Sliding Glass Door
Sliding glass doors, also known as sliding patio doors or sliding glass patio doors are doors that usually have one fixed, and one operating glass panel. A sliding glass door is designed to glide horizontally on a track. These doors are a great solution when limited the intent is not to with interior or exterior space, plus they offer an unobstructed view of the outdoors. Read more.
Soft-coat glass:
A glass product that is coated in a secondary process known as sputter-coating, usually to offer low-emissivity or solar-control benefits. Hard-coat or pyrolytic glass is coated during the manufacturing process at the molten glass stage.
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
The SHGC is a measurement of the heat transmitted and absorbed and subsequently released inward. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1. More about SHGC.
Solar-control glass
Glass produced with a coating or tint that absorbs or reflects solar energy, therebyreducing solar gain.
Sound transmission class (STC)
A rating measuring a window’s acoustic properties or its ability to reduce sound transmission. An STC rating is determined by measuring the sound transmission over a selected range of sound frequencies. The higher the number, the less sound transmitted.
Spacer Bar
A spacer bar or window spacer is a material that holds multiple panes of glass at a fixed distance from each other, thus establishing an interpane space. This interpane space is filled with gasses to increase window efficiencies by preventing extreme outside temperatures from passing through the window into the house and hot or cool air from passing out of the house. Panes in double and triple glazed widows use spacers in between the panes to separate the glass. Spacers can be aluminum, rubber or silicon foam. Silicon spacers provide durability noise reduction, are highly UV-resistant and help reduce condensation and energy costs
